External - Main Drains

If the main drains outside the property are blocked, they may be cleared using a set of drain rods. But always make sure that drain rods are attached securely together before putting down the drain, and avoid dropping any debris into the drain whilst removing the inspection chamber covers.

If whilst putting the drain rods down the system a hard object is reached, do not plunge too vigorously as this may be a bend in the pipe work and you may end up breaking the drain itself. If the drain is cleared successfully using the drain rods then you should run water through the drain using a garden hose etc.

If the procedure is unsuccessful, then call us for further advice or for a specialist to attend.
